From Corporate Bitch to Corporate Witch

"Intimiderend" — zo omschreef een collega mij onlangs. Of tenminste, zo ervaarde hij mij toen hij mij zo'n 10 jaar geleden voor het eerst ontmoette. Ik was de klant (in een grote corporate setting) en hij de consultant. Hij kon toen niet vermoeden dat we — toen ik zijn freelance collega werd — elkaars sterkste bondgenoten zouden worden.

Toen ik dit verhaal deelde met een wijze collega, beschreef ze mijn geleefde proces spontaan als: "From corporate Bitch to corporate Witch". Je kunt je mijn eerste reactie voorstellen — en het "dit durf ik nooit hardop te zeggen." Toch zijn we nu zo'n twee jaar verder — en draag ik het met trots als een ereteken.

Ik ben gaan voelen en beseffen dat we alle delen van onszelf nodig hebben om het beste in deze wereld te brengen en op een betekenisvolle manier bij te dragen.

Het omarmen van beide delen van mezelf heeft me doen landen in wie ik werkelijk ben — en dat wat ik hier kom brengen.

DE "BITCH"

Die nodig was om te manifesteren, tractie te creëren en succesvol te zijn in een competitieve, masculiene wereld.

DE "WITCH"

De wijze vrouw die tevoorschijn kwam toen ik vertraagde, opnieuw verbond met mijn wortels — mijn innerlijke wijsheid en mijn meer feminiene energie, nodig om écht te engageren en te verbinden.

Terugkijkend op mijn professionele carrière was ik wie en wat ik moest zijn, wanneer ik het nodig had. En net die mix stelt me in staat om het beste van beide werelden te overbruggen: bedrijfsstructuren, waardeketens en deliverables begrijpen, én de diepgevoelde behoefte van medewerkers om gezien, gehoord en verbonden te zijn.

Dit is voor mij het geheime recept voor een duurzame en voedende bedrijfscultuur.

As within, so without — als we deze polariteiten in onszelf kunnen accepteren, kunnen we ze tot leven brengen in ons werk, onze teams en onze organisaties.

My life is a series of breaking the mould: at home, at school, at work. From a Masters degree in Art to a successful Business executive — I've always had broad interests, with a passion for business at the core.

An unconventional career path spanning many industries, businesses and roles — from Customer Service to Sales, from Strategy to Transformation, from HR to Inclusion. Yet all with a common thread: aligning people with vision and talents with output.

The last few years as a facilitator have taught me that when I show up as 'just me', I do my best work. And yes — I am a crusader and advocate for women. Not against, but alongside men. So that we can all remember the uniqueness we get to bring.
